The sanpo is the raised stand on which offerings are placed in Japan: rice cakes at New Year, dumplings at the harvest moon. This one is plain hinoki cypress, about 7 inches square, with the traditional three cut-outs in the base. Use it as intended, with the moon-viewing dumplings, or as a small pedestal for fruit, sweets or a single flower.
