A small plate shaped like a rice ball, this one the aji-gohan, a rice ball of seasoned mixed rice. Made by hand in Mino, and glazed so the wrapping and the rice read at a glance. It sits in the palm, and takes a pickle, a spoonful of condiment, a small side, a few pieces of fruit. There are four in the series: nori, ume, tenmusu and seasoned rice. One is a joke; the four together on a table are a set. They stack.
Hand-finished, so glaze, pinholes and small variations are part of each piece.
