Woven from high-quality cotton and silk with gold and silver threads, this table runner is crafted in a Kyoto atelier. It features a beautiful, traditional motif that embodies a wish for peace, harmony, and a safe, serene life for all.

 In a soft, grayish tone that is understated yet elegant, this runner is scattered with motifs of phoenixes, kirin, and paulownia that evoke the changing seasons.

Legend has it that when ancient Chinese emperors performed rituals to honor the heavens, a phoenix carrying bamboo seeds descended upon a paulownia tree—an inspiration for the paulownia-phoenix motif.

The phoenix is said to appear only to celebrate the arrival of a wise ruler. It makes its home in the paulownia tree and feeds on bamboo seeds. Together, these three elements form a motif long admired as a symbol of good fortune and noble elegance.
