A small ornament, hand-sewn in Kyoto from chirimen crepe fabric: a rabbit leaping through pampas grass under a full moon, with the traditional offering of round rice dumplings at its feet. It is the whole story of the Japanese harvest moon in about five inches, made to stand on a shelf, a mantel, or the entrance table each September and go back in its box for next year.
Each piece is made by hand, so the fabrics and expressions vary slightly.
