Octagonal chopsticks in natural wood, coated in soft beige urushi lacquer and finished with gold. The eight-sided shape is a traditional Japanese form: it widens toward the hand, so it is easy to hold and does not roll off the table.
Each pair is lacquered by hand in Fukui, where Echizen lacquerware has been made for over a thousand years. The urushi has a quiet, moist sheen that changes with the light, and the surface stays pleasant against the lips in a way that resin never quite does.
