A hand-thrown Kyoto tea bowl painted with a grinning jack-o'-lantern, a pair of bats and a little ghost drifting over the rim — for whisking matcha on an October evening, or for serving pudding, ice cream or fruit at a Halloween table. A tiny pumpkin sits on the lip like a knob.
Each bowl is shaped on the wheel and painted by hand in a small family studio in Kyoto, so the faces and colors differ slightly from piece to piece. The warm, sandy clay body feels soft in the hand, and at 12 cm across it doubles as a small bowl for salad or soup the rest of the year.
Made in very small numbers for the season. Hand wash only.
